Abstract

Background: The proportion of pregnant women with anxiety-related symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic increased. Most pregnant women hope to receive online health education (OHE) through hospitals to know more about COVID-19-related knowledge, so as to maintain their health. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of online health education (OHE) on COVID-19 knowledge and pregnancy anxiety among first-time pregnant women during the post-pandemic period. Methods: A quasi-experimental, non-equivalent group, pre-test and post-test design was adopted. 70 qualified subjects were purposefully recruited from the obstetrics clinic of a tertiary hospital. The experimental group was given OHE online, while the control group only received routine health education from physicians and nurses during prenatal check-ups. Both groups were given the Questionnaire on Knowledge toward COVID-19, Corona Disease Anxiety Scale (CDAS)-Modified before and after the intervention. Result: After OHE, the knowledge of COVID-19 in the experimental group was significantly improved (p≤0.05), and the anxiety during pregnancy was also significantly relieved (p≤0.05). The improvement of pregnancy anxiety in the experimental group was significantly better than that in the control group.
