A Study on the Current Status and Countermeasures of Talent Cultivation in Physical Education Programs in Colleges and Universities of Guangdong Province

The rapid socio-economic development in China has created broad career opportunities for physical education (PE) professionals, while also placing higher demands on the cultivation of PE talents. This study employs literature review, questionnaire surveys, and expert interviews to investigate the current status of talent cultivation in physical education programs across normal universities, specialized institutions, and comprehensive universities in Guangdong Province. The findings reveal several issues: a lack of adaptability and measurability in training objectives, insufficient alignment between the curriculum system and training goals, inadequate implementation of the student-centered approach in the training process, and an underdeveloped quality assurance system. In response, the study proposes the following countermeasures: clarifying training objectives to enhance their adaptability and measurability; improving the curriculum system to better align with training goals; strengthening faculty capacity and promoting a student-centered educational philosophy; and establishing a diversified evaluation mechanism to improve the quality assurance system.
