Abstract

This paper investigates the performance optimisation and oil interception strategies of booms in emergency response to oil spills in rapids-type rivers. The limitations and failure mechanisms of traditional booms under torrent conditions are analysed, including oil film submergence and structural failure. The structural optimisation direction of the new type of boom is proposed to improve the anti-slumping and interception efficiency by adding gradient counterweights and integrating anti-splash components. Combined with the example of Lancang River, a scientific and reasonable selection of oil spill interception points, boom deployment angles and methods, and multi-stage deployment strategies are proposed. The research results are of practical significance in guiding the selection, deployment and optimisation of oil containment booms in the emergency response to oil spills in rapids-type rivers.
