Abstract

This article aims to explore the evolutionary characteristics and influencing factors of the consumption structure of urban and rural residents across provinces in China. Based on inter provincial consumption data of urban and rural residents, this article analyzes the demand elasticity of eight major categories of consumption among residents, and examines the impact of factors such as urbanization rate and elderly dependency ratio on consumption upgrading. The study found that urbanization rate is a key factor driving the growth of consumption expenditure. This article provides empirical evidence for understanding the changes in the consumption structure of urban and rural residents in China, and provides reference for formulating relevant policies.
